Apple UK is set to cut £100 ($196) off the sticker price of an 8GB iPhone tomorrow, reducing the cost of the handset from £269 to £169 ($527 to $331).  Confirmed by Apple’s retail partner in the UK, Carphone Warehouse, the reduction will only fuel the rumors that stock is being cleared to prepare way for the expected 3G iPhone.  Earlier that month T-Mobile Germany similarly dropped the price of the 8GB model, taking it down to just €99 ($155).

The 16GB version will apparently be staying at

its current price of £329.  Meanwhile, UK customers who have bought an 8GB iPhone in the past 30 days will receive a £100 voucher from Apple as compensation.  The new pricing will be available in-store from Wednesday 16th April.

Current predications continue to place the announcement of the 3G version of the iPhone during early June.  that would coincide with the WWDC conference that will run from June 9th to 13th.  You can read more of our 3G iPhone coverage here.
